We work hard to accelerate the industrial energy transition.
In summary, at Companion.energy we build software to allow large energy consumers (big companies) to use their energy consumption in a more flexible way. We help them to consume more at times with high renewable energy production and low prices and less when renewable energy production is low. This saves them electricity costs and allows them to use more renewable energy.
The energy transition is quite a challenge. The ongoing megatrend towards electrification requires a significant increase in electricity production. Renewable energy generation, e.g. wind and solar, is to a large extent intermittent and leads to quite some price volatility in the market. As a result, in advanced energy markets, prices are increasingly time-specific (e.g. changing hour-by-hour), location-specific (e.g. price depending on where you are located) and granular (e.g. exposure to even minute-by-minute prices). One of our main convictions is that coping with this challenge requires a software-based approach.
